Providing the Best Care for Your Loved Ones

Respite care provides pre-planned short-term placements for children and young people. The length and timing of each arrangement for respite care, varies according to the specific needs of the child and their family or placing authority.

Respite care is also provided to young people needing some intensive support during crisis to avoid a breakdown in their current placement. Young people are given the time, space and support to regain control and are involved in many outdoor activities, workshops and groups to keep them engaged.

  1. Family Support: Respite care recognizes the demands and stresses that families of young individuals with special needs face. It provides families with the opportunity to take a break, attend to their own well-being, handle other responsibilities, or simply rest and rejuvenate.

  2. Variety of Services: Respite care services can be tailored to the specific needs of the young individuals and their families. Services might include assistance with personal care, supervision, recreational activities, therapy sessions, medical monitoring, and more.

  3. Qualified Staff: Respite care providers are often trained professionals or caregivers who are experienced in working with young people with special needs. They are equipped to handle various medical, emotional, and behavioural challenges that may arise.

  4. Flexible Schedule: Respite care can be provided on a short-term basis, ranging from a few hours to several days or even weeks. This flexibility allows families to choose the timing and duration of the respite based on their needs.
